Modern business offices in the Welsh countryside at dawn

Business consulting built around your timeline, not ours

Every business has a story in progress. We join yours at the chapter that matters most and help you write the next one with sharper numbers, clearer structure and fewer wrong turns.

They arrived during our worst quarter and had us profitable again within five months. No drama, just work.— R. Howells, manufacturing director, Swansea

How an engagement unfolds

Not a rigid process. A living timeline shaped by what we find, what you need and how fast you want to move.

Week one: the honest look

Days 1–5

We sit with your leadership team, review financials, talk to front-line staff and walk the floor. No questionnaires sent by email. We come to you. By Friday we have a diagnostic memo that names three things holding the business back and two things already working that you might not see.

Weeks two and three: the map

Days 6–18

We build a decision map: what to fix first, what to leave alone, what to stop doing entirely. This is where most consultancies hand you a 90-page deck and disappear. We hand you a two-page plan and stay.

Their map saved us from a £120K software migration that would have solved the wrong problem. — D. Pritchard, ops lead, Cardiff

Month two: hands in the work

Weeks 4–8

We embed one or two of our consultants into your team. They attend your meetings, challenge your assumptions and build the reporting tools you actually need. Cash-flow models, margin trackers, hiring scorecards. Whatever the map called for.

Month three: stress-test and adjust

Weeks 9–12

New processes get pressure-tested. We run scenario planning with your managers: what happens if a key supplier fails, if demand spikes 30%, if your best salesperson leaves. The plan either holds or we patch it. Usually both.

Month four onward: you drive, we ride along

Week 13+

Our consultants step back. You run the playbook. We check in fortnightly for the first quarter, then monthly. Most clients keep us on a light retainer for ad-hoc questions. Some don't. Either way, the tools and frameworks stay with you permanently.

Six months after they left we were still using the margin tracker daily. It changed how we price everything. — T. Meredith, founder, Newport
Engagements since 2019: 73 completed · Average engagement length: 14 weeks · Client retention for retainer work: 81%

Working principles

These aren't slogans. They're the rules our consultants follow on every engagement.

Specificity over scope

We would rather solve one problem properly than survey ten. Broad audits feel thorough but rarely change anything. A focused intervention with clear ownership does.

Your staff run it after we leave

Every tool, template and process we build gets handed over with training. If your team can't maintain it without us, we haven't finished.

Fees tied to timeline

We quote a fixed fee per phase. If a phase takes longer because of our delays, the fee stays the same. If it takes longer because the scope changed, we re-quote before continuing.

No jargon in deliverables

Our reports use plain language. If a warehouse manager can't read it and know what to do on Monday morning, we rewrite it.

Consultants reviewing financial charts on a conference table

We reduced our logistics cost by 19% in ten weeks. The methodology was simple but we wouldn't have found it alone.

— G. Anwyl, distribution manager, Bridgend

Are we the right fit?

  1. Your business turns over between £500K and £25M annually. We work best at this scale because decisions can move quickly and the leadership team is accessible.
  2. You have a specific problem, not a vague feeling. "Our margins dropped 8% this year" is a brief we can work with. "We need to be more innovative" usually isn't.
  3. You're willing to share real numbers. We sign NDAs on day one, but if the financials stay locked away the engagement stalls.
  4. At least one senior person will be our working partner inside the business. We don't operate in isolation and we don't report only to a board that meets quarterly.
  5. You want change implemented, not just recommended. If you're looking for a report to put on a shelf, a larger firm will happily sell you one.

Common questions

How much does an engagement cost?

A typical 12-week engagement for a business with 20–80 employees runs between £18,000 and £35,000 depending on the number of embedded consultant-days. We quote per phase, so you can stop after the diagnostic if the numbers don't justify continuing. Retainer work after the main engagement is billed monthly at a flat rate agreed in advance.

Do you work with businesses outside Wales?

Yes. About a third of our clients are based elsewhere in the UK. We travel to site for the diagnostic and embedding phases and handle check-ins remotely. Travel costs within mainland Britain are included in our fees.

What industries do you specialise in?

Manufacturing, distribution, professional services and food production make up most of our portfolio. We've also worked with construction firms, healthcare providers and a regional airline. The common thread is operational complexity rather than a single sector.

Can we hire you for a single workshop or strategy day?

We offer standalone facilitation days for leadership teams. These are priced at a flat day rate and include pre-session preparation and a written summary of decisions and actions. Many full engagements start this way.
